The future of the nature reserve depends on our small team of volunteers. Without them the reserve would rapidly fall into disrepair, thus losing the wildlife and features which makes our reserve locally unique.
Together with a ranger from Severn Valley Country Park, we regularly take on a range of tasks and projects designed to increase the diversity and abundance of wildlife at the reserve. Our monthly work parties normally start in the autumn and run through to the following spring. A few work parties stray into the summer months, but in general the ground is too hard to work and we are mindful of the breeding birds, amphibians etc.
The conservation work is very hands-on and varied, ranging from vegetation management and habitat creation to construction and general maintenance.
Previous experience in any of these skills is not essential; only enthusiasm and the enjoyment of working with nature.
If you would like to find out more, or simply join us for a work party, then please email us through the ‘workparties’ address on the CONTACT page or link to NEWS for the latest work party dates.
Sturdy footwear, old clothes and gardening gloves are recommended, and you may want to bring a snack and a drink.
